UVC 2008 Cover Contest – Design Requirements
PLEASE FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS AS STIPULATED!

Some of the most impressive work I’ve seen, comes from fan-art creativity, so we’ve decided to let you express yourself, by coming up with a pretty cool, unique UVC magazine cover. We are calling on all artists, young or old, male or female, to bring their pencils, scissors, photo-editing software, glue or any other preferred tools and put together the best UVC mag cover possible. We’d appreciate it more if your work is completely original, but of course, you are welcome to work with existing screenshots. Just make sure you have the right permission, if you are going to use someone’s artwork or character(s). We list the prizes in our contest below. Don’t forget to read the rules – just scrolling down a bit to find them.

 HERE ARE THE RULES.

RULES!

1. COME UP WITH AN ORIGINAL BLACK SUPERHERO OR VILLAIN. You can enter as many covers as you wish, but you can only win one prize. All entries should be submitted to Contest@UVCmag.com. Make sure to include your full contact information in the e-mail.

2.  Submit only your own artwork (or have written permission to cover portions from other artists, see Preparation of Entries for more info). Finalists will be required to sign a letter confirming sole ownership of the art. The cover must measure 8-1/4″ wide by 10-1/4″  high. For work created digitally, the resolution must be 300 dpi at 8-1/4×10-1/4", including the bleed.

3. The front of the cover design (the live part of the art) must contain the UVC logo. Including the logo doesn’t mean that you can’t have fun with it, so unleash your creative impulses. The more imaginatively you present our “UVC,” the more likely we are to be impressed.

DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES

We gladly accept any and all entries. Entries must be submitted no later than May 20th. We will announce the winner the first week in June 2008. The entries will be judged and winners picked by the UVC staff. Moderators/staff and their families are not allowed to participate in the contest

PREPARATION OF ENTRIES

Please submit digital files (e-mail a jpg, tiff, or Illustrator file) of your original work. If you include portions of other artists’ works, you must include written consent by the owner of the copyright.

UVC Magazine is not responsible for loss of or any damage to an entry. If your work is selected as a finalist, we will require the finished art be a high-resolution tiff or Illustrator file. All published artwork becomes the property of UVC Magazine, with reuse of the work by the artist limited to self-promotion.

NOTIFICATION OF WINNERS

Only the finalists will be notified. The finalists will be required to submit an original, high-resolution digital file for final judging.

RETURN OF ENTRIES

No entries will be returned. If you would like to know that we received your entry, please drop us an e-mail asking for a confirmation.
