METAL
GEAR’S FINALLY HERE!
FIVE REASONS WHY WE LOVE PLAYING AS OLD SNAKE

NEXT-GEN
HOTNESS

In
terms of audio and visual presentation, Meta Gear Solid titles
have always broken new ground on PlayStation platforms; MGS4
continues this trend as it sets the PS3 firing on all cylinders,
delivering the most sense-stunning experience to ever drop on the
HI-DEF console.
HIGH-TECH
TOYS

Snake’s
new cybernetic eye-patch, controllable mini mech and OctoCamo are
not only fun to play with, they prove invaluable in the field; power
your camo to blend into the environment, spy a gun-toting goon in
the distance with the patch, then send the remote-controlled mech
in to blast him to bits. Top that, Sam Fisher!
OLD
SCHOOL TOYS

What
would the stubborn, cigarette-puffing Snake be without his old diversionary
tactics and cardboard camouflage? Yup, you can still take refuge
in a ratty brown box, and distract horny henchmen with a girlie
mag. This is still Metal Gear Solid, after all.
MULTIPLAYER

It’s
been a long time coming, but Metal Gear Solid—one of gaming’s
greatest franchises—finally gets a fully realized multiplayer component
complete with multiple maps and modes. Bring all the gadgets and
gear online, and battle friends around the world on maps inspired
by Snake’s final quest. Watch out Call of Duty 4, Gear’s
going global!
CINEMATIC
STORY
Metal
Gear Solid’s famous for weaving film-worthy (and occasionally
head-scratching) tales, introducing engaging characters and plot
lines through visually stunning cut-scenes. This one’s no different,
and with it being the concluding chapter, we finally get all our
Snake-based questions answered.
GUITAR
HERO TAKES ITS SHOW ON THE ROAD
'GH
ON TOUR' TURNS DS OWNERS INTO ROCKSTARS
-Matt

If
you thought the super-successful Guitar Hero franchise couldn't
get any bigger, you'd be right...sort of. With Guitar Hero: On
Tour, the addictive guitar shredding sim shrinks down for portable
rockin' on the Nintendo DS. Supporting a unique panel-like peripheral
that plugs into the DS’s Game Boy Advance cartridge slot, players
access four different colored strut buttons not unlike those on
GH's at-home axes. Additionally, portable players can utilize
a specially designed stylus/guitar pick on the DS's touch screen.
Its console counterpart’s point-multiplying Star Power feature is
also included, and appropriately triggered by screaming into the
DS’s sensitive mic. On-the-go rockers can take the stage with tracks
from No Doubt, Nirvana and OK Go, plus more than 20 other infectious
hits.
KRATOS
CRASHES PSP
SONY'S
PORTABLE GETS MENACING MAKEOVER

Stealing
a page from Japan's fan-pleasing playbook (they get all the cool
videogame collectibles) Sony's started offering stateside gamers
limited edition PSP bundles. Faithful fans of George Lucas' sci-fi
saga were already treated to the Darth Vader-emblazoned version,
packaged with Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron, last
year. And now, Kratos' god-slaying following can wrap their
Blades of Chaos around the brand-new God of War bundle. Packed
with the bald bad-ass' portable debut, God of War: Chains of
Olympus, the blood-red painted hardware also sports a silk-screened
image of the kill-crazy antihero. If you were looking for an excuse
to trade in that bulky, old PSP, look no further.
